2-Ingredient Healthy Ice Cream

Over the past year, I've worked hard on trying to change my eating habits to be healthier. Eating more veggies, more fruit, whole grains, and cutting out nearly all fast food. I'm not perfect of course, there are a lot of days that I go without eating any sort of vegetables for many days in a row and I have cheat days where I go to the nearest Chick-Fil-A and indulge in a 12-piece chicken nugget meal. But I swear I don't do it too often!

And while I was on my journey to be healthier (during which I lost over 15 lbs by the way! Yay!) I came across a youtube channel and blog named Blogilates and found great workouts and great recipes. One of the recipes I've been looking at for a while was a dessert that looked extremely delicious was the extremely easy ice cream created with only two ingredients: Banana and Peanut Butter! A great combination right? I personally really liked peanut butter and banana sandwiches when I was younger. So I thought, why not give this a try?

So, I decided today to use the banana I had lying around the kitchen. I cut it into coins.
Of which I of course had to steal a couple! (And make silly faces while I did.)
And then it was all cut up and ready for the next step!
(Well, one more banana coin can't hurt!)
Now into the freezer:
Now it has to freeze for about three hours. Or at least until the coins are hard. I left mine in for five hours, just because I had a big supper and wasn't hungry until way later. After that long, take the container out of the freezer and ready your blender. I recommend breaking up the frozen banana coins, because I didn't, and it was insanely hard to blend with it all stuck together!
Then take a tablespoon of delicious peanut butter and toss it in there.
And those are the only two things you need! Now, I added in some milk to make it easier to blend, because my blender isn't very good at blending. (Yeah, it's about time for a new blender) Unfortunately I added too much milk into the mix and it didn't turn out into a very good ice cream texture. It was more like a really runny milkshake. Whoops!
And then I had my first bite. Now, I'm not gonna lie. It didn't taste like ice cream I'm accustomed to eating. I'd still prefer prying open a tub of Red Velvet Ice Cream and eat it all, but this wasn't bad. It would probably be better if it wasn't so runny, and if I actually liked banana flavor. (I can't eat anything with banana flavoring. Except, you know, the occasional banana.)

But if you love bananas, you'd definitely like this recipe. Check out the Cassey's Blogilates blog for more amazing recipes and great inspiration for losing those extra pounds and getting healthy!

  1. You could try adding some ice cubes in there to help thicken it up next time! Otherwise, sounds yummy I might give it a shot. Thanks for sharing <3

    1. Haha, that might have been a good idea, after my mishap with the milk.

  2. I never had a PB banana sandwich...but I did have lots of PB & J!

That looks really interesting and it's so simple to make! I don't like any banana flavourings either except for real bananas.

    1. I unfortunately never have PB & Banana sandwiches anymore. Nowadays I'm kind of addicted to PB & J, which I try to limit because the jelly really isn't very healthy for me, but it's just too tasty!

    1. Heh, maybe I just messed up and did something wrong. I'm not very good in the kitchen, so that's a possibility!

  5. I love making a banana peanut butter smoothie!! I usually curbs any sweet craving I'm having at the time. I also like to add a little coco powder for when I'm jonesing for chocolate.
