That Feeling When You're Denied the Perfect Shoes

Hello everyone!

Today was a stressful day. Perhaps it wouldn't be stressful normally (I'm kinda going through PMS at the moment, so give me a break, okay?), but today was just crazy.

And for one simple reason.

Shoes.

Now, my interests throughout high school certainly didn't fall in line with what people stereotype most girls' interests as. I could have cared less about make up, shoes, hair products, hats... I didn't have an interest in any of these things, unless there was something really special about a certain shoe, or if the hat had a video game or anime reference.

My interests back then leaned much more towards my geeky side. My Christmas lists were filled with pretty much nothing but video games, anime collections, and more video games. I thought getting clothes or accessories for Christmas was the absolute worst!

Now that high school is over, I've finally evened out my geeky side and my girly side a little better, haha. Sure, the Xbox One is right there at the top of my Christmas list, followed by a list of a few new games. But right under that is a hat I've been dying to get, nail polish that my mom insists is too expensive for nail polish ($8), assorted make up, and under all that, with a huge underline and stars around it, was a pair of shoes from Forever 21.

This pair, to be exact: (Standout Brogue Booties)

I wanted these shoes so bad. They were on sale this weekend too, 50% off. Which brought them down to about $18. So they were cheap! They had my size available last night...

But then Cyber Monday happened.

A day I thought I would love, I ended up getting pretty sick of very quickly. By the time I had woken up at 8am, the shoes I was in love with, that I had hoped would be bought tonight as a Christmas present to me, had disappeared. My size was no longer available. The only size that was still in stock was size 10, which was much too large for me!

I know they were just shoes, but they were so perfect for me. I feel like I let the perfect shoes get away from me. The only thing I would be sadder about is if I finally found the perfect pair of pink mary-jane heels, and they somehow also managed to slip through my fingers.

I went through the entire day feeling quite blue, refreshing the page constantly, as if I was hoping by some miracle that my size would magically come back in stock and everything would be great.

Alas, that didn't happen.

All that refreshing that page did was show me size 10 become extinct as well, and before long I was refreshing to a page that said "We're sorry. This item is no longer available."

Anyway, much later on in the night, after I had spent sufficient time sulking and eating dessert to perk myself up, I went back on Forever 21's website (to prolong my torture and see if by some miracle, my shoes were back in stock. No luck there, of course.)

And I found a pair of shoes I hadn't noticed before. These shoes too, were on sale for the same price as the others, and looked quite a bit like the pair of shoes that had alluded me earlier today.

Forever 21's Forever Cool Brogue Booties:

They weren't exactly the same as the other pair, of course. The most noticeable difference being that these shoes were wedge booties, where as the other had quite a thin heel.

 I've never owned wedges. Ever.

I always thought they had sort of an odd shape. And I love heels. So I never bothered with wedges. But I figured these shoes were as close as I was going to get to my dream shoes that I had fallen in love with and lost, all in a time period of less than 24 hours.

And now, these shoes are ordered and ready to ship to my doorstep in just a few days. Alas, since my parents are buying these as a Christmas present for me, I'm not allowed to wear them until Christmas day.

But I'm glad I got these ordered. I checked just a little while ago, and now these shoes are sold out as well!

I had also considered getting these shoes today:

But I decided against it once I saw the booties from Forever 21. If you do like the above shoe, you can get it here. (It comes in black too!) If I have extra money after Christmas, and these shoes are still around, I'll probably be picking up a pair. They're really cute too, after all. I'm just not a huge fan of the whole open toe look. Hmm.

So yeah, torturing myself over a pair of shoes, and making Christmas cards has basically been my entire day. Exciting, no?

So, what do you think about these shoes? Have you had a similar experience? Let me know in the comments!

  2. This has happened to me so many times! I'm so stubborn that I have gone to ebay or another websites to find the item I wanted, and usually got it finally :D. Love the shoes and tbh I prefer the wedges :3. x

    1. I went to ebay to see if I could find the shoe! No luck :( I'm going to keep an eye out though! I will (hopefully) have these shoes! Eventually. :)

I'm glad you prefer the wedges though. It makes me feel a little better about ending up with them instead :) And the more I stare at them, the more excited I am about them arriving. Now I just hope they fit!
